“For the past seven years my greatest passion has been music, more specifically playing the saxophone, and for that I thank my former music teacher: Ms. Jin. She is the teacher who not only teaches but inspires. She has a contagious passion for music and is also greatly dedicated to her students wellbeing; helping them grow and be the best version of themselves. She takes the time to make everybody feel seen, creating the best environment for them to learn while enjoying themselves. When I was her student, Ms Jin organized bilingual musicals making sure everybody had a role. Originally, the musical was for the fifth and sixth grade but after seeing how much the younger kids wanted to be involved, she created a choir for them to accompany the actors. All year round, students would work hard on the decor, the costumes, and learning every word and dance by heart. At the end of every musical everybody was already so excited for next year’s. Ms Jin, is somebody that you never forget and whose loving personality marks you for life.”

“The wonderful teachers at Panda Theatre brought us the 2023 Lion King Jr. production at Saint Lambert Elementary School. The play was a winner on every level. The story was conveyed through acting, singing, and dancing by a cast of students who, without exception, were superb. The play also provided an opportunity for some beautiful solo singing. Most importantly, it was a great means of fostering creativity, self-expression, and teamwork among students. “I had the pleasure of working closely with Jin for several years while teaching at the same school, where I witnessed firsthand her exceptional dedication, talent, and vision as a music teacher. Jin believed deeply in the importance of fostering a sense of belonging and community within our school, and she saw the potential of a school musical to bring about that change.
